Proton LV launch and technical complex

Proton LV launch complex is capable of putting payload of up to 22 t into low Earth orbit and payload of up to 3.5 t into geostationary orbit.

Some of International Space Station parts were launched from Proton launch complexes located on Baikonur cosmodrome.

The launch complex consists of:

  • launch equipment
  • LV maintenance service
  • fuel filling systems and equipment
  • computer-controlled system for ground-based support equipment
  • waste disposal system 
  • ground-based telemetry systems
  • gas supply systems
  • power supply system
  • technical systems
  • firefighting system

LVandSCprelaunchpreparationisperformedatspecialtechnicalsites. These sites store, assemble and test LV and payloads. The technical sites are also equipped with systems to fill SC with propellant and compressed gases, dock payloads to LV.
